GREEN SCREEN Wildlife Film Festival will be held 10 to 14 Sep 2025 in Eckernforde, Germany. GREEN SCREEN Wildlife Film Festival has grown to become the largest annual wildlife film festival in Europe. Since 2007, the idyllic town of Eckernforde on the Baltic coast hosts the International Wildlife Film Festival GREEN SCREEN each year in September. GREEN SCREEN has established itself as an international meeting place for natural history filmmakers and offers a unique symbiosis to both professionals and public viewers: In a familiar and casual atmosphere, moviegoers can ask questions, give feedback and make suggestions to attending filmmakers. On the other hand, the filmmakers receive more than just audience ratings: here, they are able to experience the viewer's reactions to their productions first hand. The five day festival programme includes numerous premieres at different venues as well as official opening festivities and a glamorous awards ceremony. GREEN SCREEN Wildlife Film Festival is an event and I like events...
From the beginning, GREEN SCREEN is highly committed to supporting youth education. During summer vacation, GREEN SCREEN offers adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age the possibility of attending the popular five day youth film camp in the wilderness park Eekholt near Hamburg. The young participants learn about the ups and downs of wildlife filmmaking, for example how to achieve good pictures despite heavy rainfall and bad lighting conditions.
The young filmmakers learn first hand just how much hard work lies in the making of a movie, but of course the main focus is on the fun in creating a film and on learning that a good film depends on good teamwork.
In cooperation with the newspaper publisher Schleswig-Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag, GREEN SCREEN organises a wildlife film tour in 15 cities in Schleswig-Holstein. From a selection of three films, the audience votes on their favorite. The result of the vote is announced at the awards ceremony during the festival, the winner receiving the sh:z Audience Award.
GREEN SCREEN also takes a stand on environmental issues. In the 'Eckernförde Talks' GREEN SCREEN aims to raise the specific awareness for conservation of natural habitats and biodiversity on earth.
